This is Big Bear Country

We have access to some 966,000 acres of publicly owned land. This is prime bear country, located near the Apostle Islands in Bayfield County. The rugged terrain in this part of the state may surprise you. Dense hardwood forests, swamps, rivers and lakes make for perfect bear habitat, and this area has lead the state in bear kills for the past decade.

The typical season begins in early September and offers five days of great hunting in the wild. Our base camp is located in a remote county park. 80% of the baited stations are on privately owned land and are baited six weeks before the season. Tree stands are also in place. Our expert guides offer a seminar a day before the hunt to acquaint you with necessary information. Attendance is recommended. In the past five years, all of our hunters have had opportunities to take a bear. Our successful take rate is 80%.

Harvested bears will be gutted, weighed, skinned, quartered and put in a cooler. At your request we can also have your bear processed at a local meat market. A taxidermist is also available.

How to Reserve your Hunt

  • Email us to insure availability.
  • Deposit of half the total cost of the hunt is require upon confirmation of hunt.
  • All hunters require to sign an "Acknowledgment of Risk" form.

Upon Booking you will receive:

  • Confirmation receipt and date of the hunt.
  • A map with directions to the location of the camp and hunt.

Northern Wisconsin Outfitters is fully licensed and insured and requires all hunters to know proper hunting regulations for the State of Wisconsin. You are responsible for securing all licenses and applications.
You will be responsible for your transportation to your site once you are familiar with the location. Weather is unpredictable, so bring appropriate gear and a 4 x 4 vehicle. We strongly suggest that you arrive a day before the hunt.
